joy art project

This project is very dear to my heart.
Years ago, I found myself in a bit of a storm. On the outside, I looked fabulous…all the “things” that you are supposed to be happy for..healthy family, good friends, happy home.

But inside, I was feeling very disconnected.
I remember sitting in a waiting room, writing in my journal and I found myself writing the sentence….
“What brings you joy?”
I didn’t know how to answer.

So I did the only thing I knew of…and I answered visually…by writing the word JOY over and over again in different ways.

As I look back, I realize my biggest issue at the time was that I was not creating.
I was teaching art, but I was putting so much of myself into my classroom that there was nothing left for ME.

So little by little, I started drawing again.
And that is where Dharma joy came from.

She taught me so much…this cute, little simple drawing of a girl…with a pet bird.

She helped me realize that I could in fact GO FOR IT…create art, have fun with it…and eventually share it with the world!

And now, I look back and realize how much has changed.

I share my art, I share my heart.

I have created an inspiration deck, a coloring book, taught in online programs that I only dreamed of being part of.

I have taught in person workshops and created SOOOOO much art. I am blessed.

It took me a while to find my joy…but day by day…it slowly appeared.

Years ago, I created some very simple projects to connect to my joy.

Today I share one of them as a free tutorial on YouTube.

I hope you will have fun with this…and share your JOY with me!
